So here’s a story about a guy who has an unyielding passion for technology, and using it to help people. And video games. He really likes video games.
Cody Wilson (hey, that’s me!) is a seasoned information technology professional, born and raised in the Quad Cities, IA/IL (there’s five cities in the Quad Cities, they know it’s silly, they still haven’t done anything about it). He currently resides in Durham, NC.
Cody likes to build awesome things, and to help people that are building awesome things. When it comes to building new platforms and IT systems, Cody has a knack for designing and implementing systems that are secure, scalable, and easy to maintain. He loves automating the boring stuff, fusing well known design patterns with modern cloud infrastructure technology to make on-prem, hybrid, and fully hosted cloud platforms that scale from small office to enterprise.
Thanks to his grandfather, who worked in the radio and television broadcast industries during the golden age of television, he also has a love for broadcasting and streaming technology. Cody has fed that passion by running streaming fundrisers for non-profit organizations since 2011. He ran several fundraising events for Child’s Play Charity, raising over $50,000 for the org that brings joy and relief to children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters around the world. Most recently, Cody has been working with ROMchip an independent games history journal, producing their streaming talk series “ROMchip Presents”, and operating their first fundraising event, allowing the journal to escape the clutches of university and grant funding and become a self-sustaining entity.
Cody has had a love for music since he was very young. He was classically trained in school and with private tutors on the trumpet and piano, and was a member of honor bands and choirs throughout his school days. Today, Cody is a music producer and composer, fusing his love for video games and music of many genres. While he started toying with composition in high school, it wasn’t until receiving mentorship from video game remix veterans Dj CUTMAN and bLiNd that his skills really started to take shape, and he’s ever so thankful for the time they spent to help hone his talents. He has produced music for several indie games, and has work published on streaming catalogs.
When Cody isn’t doing all of those things, he’s enjoying time with friends and family, especially his wife Sharon. Cody and Sharon were married on October 21, 2015, the day that Doc Brown and Marty McFly travel to the future in “Back to the Future: Part 2”. Cody is still waiting for his self drying jacket, self lacing Nike’s, and hoverboard.
